Matt's Star Traders Stuff

Star Traders is a game released by Steve Jackson Games in 1987. It's pretty neat.

However, it was not written with rigor in mind and so one is constantly running into odd game situations where the provided rules don't help at all. The game is popular enough with friends of mine that we have well accepted answers to these questions. Here we go.

Hardly anyone can remember the name of this game. You may hear people refer to it as Space Traders, Star Farers, Star Trader, Space Merchants, and so on in this vein. This is complicated by the fact that some (perhaps all) of those other names are attached to actual other games, and that there are other games called "Star Traders".
